Autel MaxiCharger

Supported devices: Autel MaxiCharger AC Single (A22), steered on power over Modbus TCP, with an optional fallback power when communication is lost.

Our EMS steers the Autel MaxiCharger AC Single (A22) over Modbus TCP: the charging power is limited together with the rest of the site, within the limit of the grid connection.

The MaxiCharger AC Single is available from EMS controller version 0.0.339.

Supported devices

Model Power Current type Connectors
MaxiCharger AC Single (A22) 7.4 to 22 kW AC 1

One integration covers the whole A22 series: every variant reports its own maximum charging power, and the EMS never allocates more than that.

How the integration works

  • Charging power control: the EMS keeps the charger in power mode and writes a power limit to the connector. If the charger drops back to current mode, the EMS sets power mode again.
  • Pause and resume: the AC Single has no start or stop command, so a pause writes a limit of 0 W. While the pause holds and the car stays plugged in, the connector shows as suspended by the charger.
  • Load balancing: the charger takes part in the site load management, per connector.
  • Monitoring: charging state, voltage, current and power per phase, and the energy counter are read back and shown on the device page and in the EV charging dashboard.
  • Incidents: a lost Modbus connection, a faulted connector and a charger that does not apply the EMS limits (it stays out of power mode, or keeps a different power limit for more than 30 seconds) are raised as incidents.

Setup

  1. Network

Connect the charger to the same network as the Voltmasters Controller and give it a fixed IP address. Make sure Modbus TCP is enabled on the charger and that the controller can reach it on port 502.

  2. Add the charger in the platform

Add a device of type EV charger, with brand Autel and model MaxiCharger AC Single (A22). Fill in the IP address, port 502, and check the prefilled Slave ID 1.

  3. Set a fallback power (optional)

In the device settings, fill in the Fallback setpoint if the charger should fall back to a fixed power when it loses the connection with the EMS (see below).

  4. Verify

Start a charging session and check on the device page that the charging state and power come in, and that the charger follows a lowered limit.

Fallback on a lost connection

The fallback is optional. With a Fallback setpoint filled in, the EMS writes that power as the offline limit of the charger, together with a communication timeout of 60 seconds. When the charger hears nothing from the EMS for 60 seconds, it charges at that power until the EMS takes over again. Without a fallback setpoint, the EMS leaves the offline settings of the charger as they are.
