PV inverters

The PV inverters and data loggers the Voltmasters EMS reads and curtails: directly or through a data logger, and the connection per brand.

The EMS monitors the PV production and curtails the active power when the site asks for it: at negative prices, under an export limit or for zero export. Where the inverter offers it, it also controls the reactive power.

An inverter connects directly to the controller, or together with others behind a data logger.
  • Directly: the EMS reads and curtails each inverter separately.
  • Through a data logger: the EMS sees the aggregated production of the installation and, where the data logger supports it, curtails the installation as a whole.

If an inverter only speaks RS485, make it reachable over the network with an RS485 to Modbus TCP converter, such as the EP E300.
