Grid compliance & Fluvius
Telecontrol and grid conformity without the headaches
From 100 kVA of storage, grid operators increasingly require telecontrol. Voltmasters integrates directly with the grid operator, treats the signals as constraints in the optimisation and guides certification end to end.
What is telecontrol?
Telecontrol means the grid operator can monitor an installation remotely and intervene when needed: reading power, voltage and current, but also imposing power limits or disconnecting. Driven by growing grid congestion, the massive rise of battery systems and new flexibility programmes, 100 kVA is increasingly used as the relevant threshold, exact requirements differ per grid operator and location.
The Voltmasters EMS processes telecontrol signals as a constraint within the optimisation: the battery ramps down in a controlled way, without operational disruption for your customer.
Fluvius integration, end to end
- Netflex interface over the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol: Fluvius RTU ↔ Voltmaster Controller ↔ assets
- Moxa IO modules on site for the DSO signals, including a hardware emergency stop
- Validation against real measurements: active and reactive power, Q mode, emergency stop and feedback per category
- Guided DSO certification with real-time diagnostics, often completed in a single session
- 100% Fluvius-compliant at a minimal surcharge: full onboarding included, from connection and configuration to validation and coordination with Fluvius
The control loop, visualised
Fluvius commands, the controller regulates, the site reports back
The grid operator sets a power limit over the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol. The Voltmaster Controller ramps the assets down in a controlled way and feeds the measurements back in real time, with an independent hardware emergency stop that the controller executes through its IO extension as a safety net.
Direct measurement via the Fluvius A1 port
For high-consumption connections (>100 kVA) in Flanders, the EMS reads the industrial Fluvius meter directly via the A1 port (RJ12/RJ45), real-time quarter-hour values for active and reactive power. The residential digital meter (P1) is supported as well.
Real-time quarter-hour values
Continuous tracking of the quarter-hour averages on which the capacity tariff is calculated.
No extra sub-meters
Official meter data comes in directly, less hardware, fewer error sources.
Manage the capacity tariff
Peak shaving steers on exactly the same measurement as the grid operator's invoice.
No billing discrepancies
The data in the platform matches the supplier's settlement one to one.
Grid compliance by country
Every country has its own connection and compliance requirements for solar installations and battery storage (BESS). Voltmasters aligns each project with the local grid code.
