Supported devices: BESS

Our EMS supports the battery energy storage system from Posevault.

The Posevault BESS is a containerised commercial storage system that combines the battery and the power conversion system in one unit, with a single Modbus TCP interface. The integration lets the system be monitored and controlled directly from our EMS platform.

  • BESS: containerised energy storage system, 2088 kWh capacity / 1000 kW rated power

Posevault support is available from EMS controller version 0.0.331.

EMS functionality

With the current integration, our EMS enables:

  • Monitoring of battery status and performance
  • Smart charging and discharging control
  • Optimization of self-consumption
  • Peak shaving and load balancing

Additional functionality may be added over time as integration capabilities evolve.

Add a Posevault BESS to the EMS

Add the system through the device wizard:

  • Brand: Posevault
  • Model: BESS
  • Connection: over the installation network (Modbus TCP), default unit ID 2.

The battery is created automatically as a child device of the storage system. Set its capacity to the installed value: the system reports its power rating in the capacity register rather than the size of the pack, so the EMS relies on the configured value to know how much energy is available.

The system stops following EMS setpoints and returns to its own local strategy when it loses contact with the controller for more than 30 seconds. This is the built in fail safe of the system: power falls back to zero and control resumes automatically once the connection returns.
