Load balancing
Overload from EV chargers? Not with load balancing.
The EMS automatically distributes the available power and prevents overload, completely autonomous, requiring no manual intervention. Industrial power management combined with advanced EV control.
Why load balancing is essential
Charge points are added on top of a connection that was rarely designed for them. Without control you risk:
- A main breaker that trips at the busiest moment of the day
- Production processes disrupted by charging peaks
- Unreliable or painfully slow charging sessions for the fleet
What the Voltmasters Load Manager does
- Monitors and enforces the maximum power per meter
- Per-device priorities, vehicles always come first, the battery even discharges to support them
- Automatic shedding when thresholds are exceeded, with configurable hysteresis
- Dynamic control of EV, PV, batteries and managed loads in concert
- Safe system recovery as soon as capacity returns
The control logic, visualised
Everything within the grid limit, in a fixed order
The EMS stacks power in a fixed priority. When capacity gets tight, the battery steps in so vehicles keep charging at full power.
A fixed priority order, predictable behaviour
The EV charging algorithm distributes the available power in a fixed, transparent order, so you always know what happens when things get tight:
-
Respect the grid limit
-
Serve site consumption
-
Charge EVs from the grid
-
Charge EVs from the battery
-
Charge the battery with what's left
Supported chargers: ABB Terra AC, Alpitronic HYC series, Mennekes Amtron, Etrel Inch, Iocharger and Siemens SiCharge D.
