Supported devices: Acrel ADL400

Our EMS supports integration with energy meters from Acrel.

Acrel builds DIN-rail power measurement devices for commercial and industrial installations. The ADL400 is a three-phase energy meter that communicates with our EMS over Modbus and provides the measurement data needed for monitoring and control.

Supported devices

  • ADL400: three-phase DIN-rail energy meter with Modbus communication

Default slave ID

The ADL400 leaves the factory on slave ID 1 and accepts 1 to 254. The installations we have seen so far are commissioned on 40, so our EMS proposes 40 when you add the meter. Make sure the value matches the address configured on the meter itself.

Set the voltage and current transformer ratios on the meter before you add it. Our EMS reads the primary-side values, so the meter has to apply the PT and CT ratios itself. A meter left on the default ratios reports the wrong power and energy figures.

What the meter reports

  • Voltage and current per phase
  • Active power per phase and total active, reactive and apparent power
  • Power factor per phase and total power factor
  • Grid frequency
  • Voltage imbalance and current imbalance
  • Cumulative imported and exported active energy

EMS functionality

With the current integration, our EMS enables:

  • Accurate measurement of grid and sub-circuit energy flows
  • Real-time monitoring of power, energy and power quality data
  • Use of the meter as a reference point for control strategies such as peak shaving and capacity management

Additional functionality may be added over time as integration capabilities evolve.
