EV chargers integration
Schneider Charge Pro, charging current sized to the connection
The Charge Pro is the Schneider Electric AC charging station for apartment buildings and for company cars that charge at home, from 7.4 to 22 kW, single-phase or three-phase. Voltmasters EMS steers it over Modbus TCP: the charging current follows what the grid connection allows, together with the battery, the PV and the other charge points.
Supported devices
- Charge Pro
The Schneider Charge Pro, an AC charging station with a single outlet (a socket or an attached cable), which the EMS treats as one connector. Supported from controller version 0.0.334. The EVlink Pro AC has an integration of its own.
What the EMS gets out of your Schneider Charge Pro installation
- Load balancing within the limit of the grid connection
- Charge at the cheapest moments, including negative prices
- Priorities per charge point, the fleet comes first
- Interplay with battery and PV for extra charging power
- Monitoring of every charging session
Why installers connect the Charge Pro to Voltmasters
Where several cars charge on one connection, the charging current decides whether you stay within your peak. The EMS writes a maximum charging current, which the Charge Pro applies within 15 seconds. When the budget drops below 6 A, the EMS pauses the session rather than offering a current the vehicle cannot use, and afterwards the same session simply continues. Because the EMS detects how many phases the session really uses, a single-phase vehicle is steered correctly too.
The technical bit, in short
- Connection over Modbus TCP, port 502, slave id 255 (fixed by the Schneider Modbus guide)
- Fixed IP address on the same network as the controller
- Maximum charging current adjustable from 6 to 32 A, 32 A by default
- Fallback current on a lost connection from 0 to 32 A, 0 A by default
- The EMS registers itself as the external energy manager on the station
How it works
How your Schneider Charge Pro connects to the EMS
Voltmaster Controller in the cabinet
The industrial DIN-rail controller sits next to the installation and runs the optimisation locally, even without internet.
Connect over the local network
You connect the device following the step-by-step guide in our documentation. We assist with commissioning on your first project.
Configure and go live
The installation appears in the platform: dashboards, control and monitoring are active right away.

Questions about the Schneider Charge Pro integration
What does the Charge Pro do when the connection to the EMS drops?
The EMS sends a heartbeat on every cycle. When it stops for longer than the detection time set on the station (60 seconds by default), the Charge Pro falls back to the configured fallback current. That is 0 A by default, so charging stops rather than continuing on a current the site budget never approved.
Can the EMS start or stop a charging session?
It cannot start one: the vehicle has to be authorised at the station or over OCPP. The EMS controls the charging current and pauses and resumes the session. A session is only stopped when you ask for it explicitly with a manual override.
Does the system keep working when the internet drops?
Yes. The Voltmaster Controller runs the optimisation locally in the cabinet. If the connection drops, control, peak shaving and the safety limits simply stay active.
How do I connect a Schneider Charge Pro to the EMS?
The Voltmaster Controller connects to the device over the local network. The step-by-step instructions are in our documentation, and as a certified partner we guide your first commissioning from start to finish.
