Sinexcel DC fast charging under control

Sinexcel builds DC fast chargers from 160 to 240 kW, in an integrated and a distributed version. Voltmasters EMS controls the chargers over Modbus-TCP and keeps the power within the limits of the grid connection, charging at the cheapest moments.

Supported devices

  • CE 160 kW
  • CE 240 kW
  • UL 240 kW
  • Integrated DC Charger
  • Distributed DC Charger

The DC series: CE 160 kW, CE 240 kW, UL 240 kW and the integrated and distributed version. You pick a specific model or the series as a whole; the charger reports its own model over Modbus.

What the EMS gets out of your Sinexcel DC Charger installation

  • Load balancing within the limit of the grid connection
  • Charge at the cheapest moments, including negative prices
  • Priorities per charge point, the fleet comes first
  • Interplay with battery and PV for extra charging power
  • Monitoring of every charging session

Why installers combine Sinexcel and Voltmasters

DC fast chargers draw high peaks that quickly overload a grid connection. The EMS does load balancing across the chargers, the battery and the PV, and plans charging at the cheapest moments, including negative prices. The main connection stays within its limit without reinforcement.

The technical bit, in short

  • Connection over Modbus-TCP, port 502
  • Activate Modbus on the MCU and reboot the MCU
  • Wired network with a fixed IP address on the same subnet

How your Sinexcel DC Charger connects to the EMS

Voltmaster Controller in the cabinet

The industrial DIN-rail controller sits next to the installation and runs the optimisation locally, even without internet.

Connect over the local network

You connect the device following the step-by-step guide in our documentation. We assist with commissioning on your first project.

Configure and go live

The installation appears in the platform: dashboards, control and monitoring are active right away.

Questions about the Sinexcel DC Charger integration

Which Sinexcel chargers does Voltmasters support?

The DC series: CE 160 kW, CE 240 kW, UL 240 kW and the integrated and distributed DC fast charger. Monitoring and power limiting are provided for connector 1 and connector 2.

How does the EMS connect to a Sinexcel DC charger?

Over Modbus-TCP on port 502. You activate Modbus on the MCU, reboot the MCU and give the charger a fixed IP address on the same network as the Voltmaster Controller. The controller then controls the charger.

Does the EMS prevent overload from the fast chargers?

Yes. The EMS does load balancing across the chargers, the battery and the PV and keeps the total power within the limit of the grid connection, without reinforcement.

Does the system keep working when the internet drops?

Yes. The Voltmaster Controller runs the optimisation locally in the cabinet. If the connection drops, control, peak shaving and the safety limits simply stay active.
