Battery storage (BESS) integration
Sunwoda batteries, smartly controlled
Voltmasters EMS controls two Sunwoda systems over Modbus TCP: the 200 kW OSP200K, with a battery per battery cluster, and the NoahX-L261, an all-in-one cabinet with a 125 kW battery inverter on 261 kWh.
Sunwoda
Supported devices
- OSP200K
- NoahX-L261
The OSP200K from controller version 0.0.337 and the NoahX-L261 from 0.0.339. On the NoahX-L261 the EMS only steers active power with the current cabinet firmware.
What the EMS gets out of your Sunwoda installation
- Trade on the imbalance market and dynamic prices, quarter hour by quarter hour
- Peak shaving: keep peak power and capacity tariff under control
- Maximise self-consumption together with PV and EV chargers
- Fluvius telecontrol and grid compliance, certification included
- Real-time monitoring with automatic incident detection
Why installers combine Sunwoda and Voltmasters
The EMS uses the battery where it earns the most: on the imbalance market, against peaks and for self-consumption, together with the PV and the EV chargers. The system, inverter and battery cluster alarms each become an incident of their own, and a cabinet emergency stop sends emergency notifications.
The technical bit, in short
- Connection over Modbus TCP
- On the NoahX-L261 the control source of the cabinet is set to remote
- Controller and battery on the same local network
How it works
How your Sunwoda connects to the EMS
Voltmaster Controller in the cabinet
The industrial DIN-rail controller sits next to the installation and runs the optimisation locally, even without internet.
Connect over the local network
You connect the device following the step-by-step guide in our documentation. We assist with commissioning on your first project.
Configure and go live
The installation appears in the platform: dashboards, control and monitoring are active right away.

Questions about the Sunwoda integration
Which Sunwoda systems does Voltmasters support?
The OSP200K, with a battery per battery cluster, and the NoahX-L261, an all-in-one cabinet of 125 kW and 261 kWh.
Does the EMS also control reactive power?
On the OSP200K it does. With its current firmware the NoahX-L261 does not pass a reactive power setpoint on to its inverter, so there the EMS only steers active power.
Does the system keep working when the internet drops?
Yes. The Voltmaster Controller runs the optimisation locally in the cabinet. If the connection drops, control, peak shaving and the safety limits simply stay active.
How do I connect a Sunwoda battery to the EMS?
The Voltmaster Controller connects to the device over the local network. The step-by-step instructions are in our documentation, and as a certified partner we guide your first commissioning from start to finish.
