Battery storage (BESS) integration
Victron, from off-grid to market-driven
Victron is familiar to every installer working with backup and off-grid. Voltmasters EMS lifts the MultiPlus and Quattro to the next level: on top of the reliable inverter/charger comes market-driven charging and discharging, peak shaving and grid compliance.
Supported devices
- MultiPlus
- MultiPlus-II
- Quattro
- Quattro-II
MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro and Quattro-II. Working with a different Victron configuration? Just ask us.
What the EMS gets out of your Victron installation
- Trade on the imbalance market and dynamic prices, quarter hour by quarter hour
- Peak shaving: keep peak power and capacity tariff under control
- Maximise self-consumption together with PV and EV chargers
- Fluvius telecontrol and grid compliance, certification included
- Real-time monitoring with automatic incident detection
Why installers combine Victron and Voltmasters
The MultiPlus and Quattro range stand for robust, flexible storage. The EMS connects over Modbus TCP and steers the battery based on market prices, PV and consumption. Important: enable Modbus TCP beforehand, allow steering mode and disable scheduled loading, otherwise the EMS cannot take over control.
The technical bit, in short
- Connection over Modbus TCP
- Enable Modbus TCP in the device settings
- Allow steering mode and disable scheduled loading before connecting
How it works
How your Victron connects to the EMS
Voltmaster Controller in the cabinet
The industrial DIN-rail controller sits next to the installation and runs the optimisation locally, even without internet.
Connect over the local network
You connect the device following the step-by-step guide in our documentation. We assist with commissioning on your first project.
Configure and go live
The installation appears in the platform: dashboards, control and monitoring are active right away.

Questions about the Victron integration
Which Victron devices does Voltmasters support?
MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro and Quattro-II.
What do I need to set on the Victron before the EMS connects?
Three steps are mandatory: enable Modbus TCP, allow steering mode and disable scheduled loading. If these are not followed, the EMS cannot control the battery.
Does the system keep working when the internet drops?
Yes. The Voltmaster Controller runs the optimisation locally in the cabinet. If the connection drops, control, peak shaving and the safety limits simply stay active.
How do I connect a Victron system to the EMS?
The Voltmaster Controller connects to the device over the local network. The step-by-step instructions are in our documentation, and as a certified partner we guide your first commissioning from start to finish.
