Huawei SmartLogger Hybrid as a fully controllable system

The Huawei SmartLogger brings LUNA2000 batteries, SUN2000 inverters and a built-in grid meter together behind one gateway. Voltmasters EMS connects over Modbus TCP at the SmartLogger level and controls the complete installation: market-driven charging and discharging, automatic curtailment and peak shaving.

Supported devices

  • SmartLogger Hybrid (LUNA2000 + SUN2000)

The SmartLogger Hybrid configuration with LUNA2000 batteries and SUN2000 inverters. Available from controller version 0.0.277. For standalone Huawei SUN2000 inverters or a SmartLogger 3000 without battery, see the Huawei PV integration.

What the EMS gets out of your Huawei SmartLogger Hybrid installation

  • Trade on the imbalance market and dynamic prices, quarter hour by quarter hour
  • Peak shaving: keep peak power and capacity tariff under control
  • Maximise self-consumption together with PV and EV chargers
  • Fluvius telecontrol and grid compliance, certification included
  • Real-time monitoring with automatic incident detection

Why installers combine Huawei SmartLogger Hybrid and Voltmasters

The SmartLogger Hybrid brings the complete Huawei installation together behind one connection. The EMS controls the LUNA2000 batteries via the forcible charge and discharge registers, curtails PV production at the array level via the SmartLogger, and reads the built-in grid meter. Battery, PV and metering are controlled together as one system.

The technical bit, in short

  • Connection over Modbus TCP
  • SmartLogger as gateway (slave 0), each SUN2000 inverter has its own slave ID
  • Built-in SmartLogger grid meter is read automatically

The installation appears in the platform: dashboards, control and monitoring are active right away.

Questions about the Huawei SmartLogger Hybrid integration

How does the SmartLogger Hybrid differ from the regular Huawei SmartLogger integration?

The regular Huawei integration controls standalone SUN2000 inverters or a SmartLogger 3000 for PV curtailment. The SmartLogger Hybrid adds LUNA2000 battery control: the EMS charges and discharges the battery via the forcible registers and reads the built-in grid meter through the SmartLogger gateway. The whole Huawei installation is controlled as one system.

What Huawei hardware is required for the SmartLogger Hybrid?

A Huawei SmartLogger, LUNA2000 batteries and SUN2000 inverters. The EMS aggregates multiple inverters and batteries via their individual Modbus slave IDs.

Does the system keep working when the internet drops?

Yes. The Voltmaster Controller runs the optimisation locally in the cabinet. If the connection drops, control, peak shaving and the safety limits simply stay active.

How do I connect a Huawei SmartLogger Hybrid to the EMS?

The Voltmaster Controller connects to the device over the local network. The step-by-step instructions are in our documentation, and as a certified partner we guide your first commissioning from start to finish.
