BEE and the Voltmasters EMS
BEE (Belgian Eco Energy) manages batteries and solar installations through its flexibility platform Companion. The Voltmasters EMS connects directly to that platform and executes the steering signals locally and safely.
Who is BEE?
Belgian Eco Energy, BEE for short, is a Belgian renewable energy company with offices in Mechelen and Ghent. BEE develops, finances and operates its own wind and biomass installations, supplies sustainable electricity and heat to industrial and commercial customers, and offers a complete journey from production to monetisation with PPAs and its flexibility platform Companion.
Our partnership
The Voltmasters controller connects directly to the backend of Companion, BEE's flexibility platform. Companion decides when the battery charges or discharges and when PV is curtailed, while the EMS executes those instructions and simultaneously guards the grid connection and the project's safety limits. The installation monetises its flexibility on the imbalance market without extra hardware or manual intervention.
Technical, in short
- Secure HTTPS REST API to the Companion platform (api.companion.energy/v2)
- Authentication with an API key issued by BEE
- A customer ID identifies the customer and the site within Companion
- Configuration happens in the project's energy trading settings in the platform
How it works
How to connect a project to BEE
Contract with the trading partner
Your customer signs a contract with BEE. We are happy to help decide which partner and which market product fit the project best.
Activate the connection
The connection is activated in the project's energy trading settings. For your first project we guide the configuration from start to finish.
Live on the market
From then on the installation follows BEE's steering signals. In the platform you track the imbalance prices, the activations and the revenue per device, live.

Questions about the BEE connection
What can BEE steer through the Voltmasters EMS?
Batteries and PV inverters. Companion sends setpoints for imbalance market participation: the battery follows the dispatch signals and the inverters curtail when needed.
What do I need to connect a project to BEE?
A contract with BEE and two items they provide: an API key and a customer ID. Enter them in the project's energy trading settings and the connection goes live.
Does the installation stay safe while BEE is steering?
Yes. The controller always enforces the project limits: the maximum power of the grid connection, the limits of the grid contract and the safety margins of every device.
Ready to make your first project pay off?
Tell us about your next installation. We will show you the platform, help you build the business case and guide you from first quote to certification.
