Questions about the SMA integration
Which SMA inverters does Voltmasters support?
The Sunny Tripower series: STP3, STP4, STP5, STP6, STP8, STP10, STP50 and STP110. Do you have another SMA device with Modbus TCP? Get in touch and we will look into it together.
How does the EMS connect to the SMA inverter?
Over Modbus TCP on port 502. You enable Modbus once in the inverter's web interface (Device Parameters, External Communication) with an installer login. The Voltmaster Controller and the inverter must be on the same local network.
Can the EMS curtail production during negative prices?
Yes. The EMS automatically reads the day-ahead prices and limits the inverter when injecting costs money. A fixed injection limit or full zero injection is also possible.
Does this work together with hardware from another brand?
Yes, the EMS is brand-independent. A battery, PV inverter, EV chargers and meters from different manufacturers are controlled together as one optimised system.
