Schleswig-Holstein Netz (SH Netz), part of the HanseWerk group, operates the distribution grid in Germany's most wind-rich state. Curtailment here is frequent and heavy, so gradient-compliant setpoint execution is a must. From 100 to 500 kW we connect over the E.ON Modbus TCP profile.

SH Netz supplies large parts of Schleswig-Holstein and belongs to the HanseWerk group within the E.ON family, headquartered in Rendsburg. Relative to its size, no other state feeds in as much wind power. The grid regularly reaches its limits, so grid-security management steers frequently.

For plants from 100 to 500 kW we connect SH Netz over the common E.ON Modbus TCP profile. From around 100 kW, SH Netz requires a telecontrol connection and participation in Redispatch 2.0.

E.ON Modbus TCP profile

Connection over the Gateway Light with the E.ON Modbus TCP profile, which is identical across the E.ON grid. The EMS provides the Modbus TCP server, receives the grid-security setpoint in steps and reports voltage, active and reactive power back.

Controlled curtailment: on a setpoint change, active power is tracked as quickly as possible, with the required ramp rates per VDE-AR-N 4110. The EMS holds the last valid setpoint on loss of connection and keeps optimising on the market afterwards.

Where curtailment is frequent and heavy, the control logic has to hold up. Our stack executes setpoints gradient-compliant and reports the state back reliably. The telecontrol function is integrated into the Voltmaster Controller; we support commissioning with SH Netz.
