# Voltmasters EMS > Voltmasters EMS is an energy management system (EMS) for professional installers that connects batteries, solar and EV-charging infrastructure in one platform, with cost optimisation, imbalance-market trading and Fluvius telecontrol. Built in Belgium. Voltmasters BV (Konijnenboslaan 16, 8470 Gistel, Belgium) develops the EMS software and the Voltmaster Controller, an industrial DIN-rail edge controller that runs the optimisation algorithms locally and keeps working during internet outages. The platform is brand-independent, supporting 59 brands and 222 models across batteries, PV inverters, EV chargers and energy meters (Victron, Sungrow, SMA, Huawei, Fronius and more), and is sold through a certified installer partner program rather than direct self-service. The website is available in nine languages: English at /en/, Dutch at /nl/, German at /de/, French at /fr/, Portuguese at /pt/, Italian at /it/, Spanish at /es/, Polish at /pl/ and Romanian at /ro/. ## Product - [Platform and features](https://voltmasters.io/en/ems/platform/): The full EMS feature set: BESS optimisation, self-consumption, peak shaving, PV curtailment, forecasting, multi-site management and six specialised dashboards. - [Voltmaster Controller](https://voltmasters.io/en/ems/controller/): Industrial DIN-rail edge controller that runs the optimisation locally and continues without internet. - [Energy trading and imbalance market](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/energy-trading/): Market integration with dynamic prices and the imbalance market, plus connections to aggregators such as Yuso, Trevion, BEE, Centrica and Elion. - [Load balancing](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/load-balancing/): Dynamic load management that prevents EV-charger overloads on the grid connection. - [Monitoring, reporting and incident management](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/monitoring/): Real-time dashboards, historical analysis, Pro dashboards, AI-driven health monitoring and automatic incident detection with alerts. - [Grid compliance and DSO telecontrol](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/): Telecontrol via the protocol the grid operator requires (IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, IEC 61850 or Modbus), an on-site IO extension for the DSO signals, and guided DSO certification. Worked out per country. - [Belgium](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/belgium/) (available): Fluvius (Flanders), Sibelga (Brussels), ORES and RESA (Wallonia). IEC 60870-5-104 telecontrol, direct Fluvius A1 meter integration and certification often completed in a single session. Detail pages: [when telecontrol is mandatory](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/belgium/dso-rtu-compliance/), [Netflex 5](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/belgium/netflex-5/) and [Fall-Back Flex](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/belgium/fall-back-flex/). - [Germany](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/germany/) (coming soon): Westnetz, Bayernwerk Netz, Avacon Netz, E.DIS Netz and Schleswig-Holstein Netz. Connection to the Westnetz Gateway 2.0 via IEC 60870-5-104 above 500 kW, and via the E.ON Modbus TCP profile from 100 to 500 kW. Detail pages per grid operator: [Westnetz](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/germany/westnetz/), [Bayernwerk](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/germany/bayernwerk/), [Avacon](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/germany/avacon/), [E.DIS](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/germany/e-dis/) and [Schleswig-Holstein Netz](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/germany/schleswig-holstein-netz/). - [Netherlands](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/grid-compliance/netherlands/) (available): Liander, Enexis and Stedin. Dutch grid operators do not send a direct setpoint the way Fluvius does; control runs through a capaciteitssturingscontract (CSC, capacity steering contract), which has largely replaced the capaciteitsbeperkingscontract since May 2026, and through a congestion service provider coupling the EMS to GOPACS. A congestion management contract is mandatory from 100 kW and no longer required below it since 2026. The salderingsregeling (net-metering scheme) ends on 1 January 2027, which makes self-consumption and battery storage the business case. - [Microgrid: more power and continuity](https://voltmasters.io/en/solutions/microgrid/): For sites with a battery, solar and a generator that hit the limit of their grid connection or cannot afford downtime. The EMS switches between grid-parallel operation and off-grid on its own: grid-parallel the battery trades on the market and shaves the peak; at a peak above the connection or during a grid outage the battery takes over the site, the generator starts only at a low state of charge (SoC), PV is curtailed on surplus and controllable loads are adjusted; afterwards the EMS reconnects safely. Off-grid is one state of a microgrid, not the whole product. Data centres are a specific fit: the UPS batteries and the standby generator are already on site, so the EMS lets them earn on the market between outages and turns the mandatory generator test into a real off-grid run. Whether the transition to off-grid is seamless or a short controlled restart depends on the hardware chosen. - [Mobile app](https://voltmasters.io/en/ems/app/): Monitor and manage every installation from your phone. - [EMS security](https://voltmasters.io/en/security/): How the EMS is secured, developed to IEC 62443 principles and security-by-design, with encrypted communication, strong authentication, role-based access control, audit logging, secure remote access, secure updates, network segmentation, vulnerability management and fail-safe behaviour. - [Hardware integrations](https://voltmasters.io/en/ems/integrations/): All supported brands across batteries (BESS), PV inverters, EV chargers and energy meters, with per-brand integration pages such as Poweroad batteries (https://voltmasters.io/en/ems/integrations/poweroad/) and SMA Sunny Tripower inverters (https://voltmasters.io/en/ems/integrations/sma/). - [Brand-independent EMS vs. manufacturer EMS](https://voltmasters.io/en/brand-independent-ems/): Comparison for installers. A brand-independent EMS controls 59 brands across batteries, inverters, EV chargers and energy meters, runs locally on the Voltmaster Controller and adds market trading and telecontrol; a manufacturer EMS typically controls only its own hardware. - [Voltmasters vs Eniris](https://voltmasters.io/en/voltmasters-vs-eniris/): Two Belgian brand-independent EMS platforms side by side. Eniris is optimised for residential breadth; Voltmasters is built for commercial and industrial (C&I) and large-scale projects, with fast response, manufacturer-certified adapters and speed-optimised links to VPPs and energy suppliers. - [Voltmasters vs Octave](https://voltmasters.io/en/voltmasters-vs-octave/): A brand-independent EMS compared with a battery manufacturer that bundles its own control. Octave supplies its own LFP batteries with a bundled EMS; Voltmasters steers any battery brand and stacks six revenue streams. - [Day-ahead market prices](https://voltmasters.io/en/market-prices/): Live and historical day-ahead electricity prices for 21 European bidding zones, the market the EMS trades on. ## Company and proof - [Use cases](https://voltmasters.io/en/use-cases/): Field case studies and the scenarios installers face every week. - [Partner program](https://voltmasters.io/en/partners/): How installers become a certified Voltmasters partner, including a FAQ on supported brands, offline operation, commissioning and telecontrol. - [Contact](https://voltmasters.io/en/contact/): Get in touch or apply to become an installation partner. - [Brand assets](https://voltmasters.io/en/brand/): Official downloadable logo packages (logo, logomark, wordmark, icon in SVG, PNG and AI), brand guidelines PDF, colour palette, typography and naming rules for press and partners. - [News and insights](https://voltmasters.io/en/blog/): Articles for installers on telecontrol thresholds, Fall-Back Flex, access power versus peak power and the optimisation algorithm. - [Jobs](https://voltmasters.io/en/jobs/): Open vacancies at Voltmasters in engineering, data, security and business development. ## Case studies - [Power Boost Reserve at Cras Ostend](https://voltmasters.io/en/use-cases/power-boost-reserve/): 300 kW of fast charging on a 250 kW grid connection.
