# Solis

Our Controller supports the Solis grid-tied inverter product lines. Before you continue, it is important to know which inverter you have.

Understanding the difference between inverter types

Go to the [official Solis website](https://www.solisinverters.com/uk). Find your model in the 'Hybrid & Off Grid Inverters' or 'Grid Tie Inverters' section, marked by the blue arrows in the image below.

If your model is not listed under 'Hybrid & Off Grid Inverters' on the Solis website, check whether it appears under the grid-tied line or the hybrid and off-grid line using the descriptions below.

**Grid-tied line:**

-   Solar-only inverters that convert DC power from solar panels into AC power
-   Only work when grid power is available
-   No battery storage support

**Hybrid line:**

-   Hybrid inverters that can work with both solar panels and batteries
-   Can store excess solar energy in batteries
-   Choose this line if you have, or plan to have, battery storage

### Grid-tied inverters

A grid-tied Solis inverter is read through a **Solis datalogger** (for example the S2-WL-ST), which acts as the gateway to the inverter's RS485 interface. Add the datalogger as the PV device over Modbus TCP.

With this integration our EMS enables:

-   Monitoring of PV production data
-   Active power curtailment where the inverter supports it
-   Integration of PV production into the broader energy management strategies

### Hybrid inverters

A hybrid inverter from the S6 energy storage line is **not** added here. It is added as a battery system, and the solar field on its MPPT inputs then appears automatically as a separate PV device underneath it.
