# Data Manager

The SMA Data Manager aggregates the inverters of a plant behind a single connection. Our EMS reads the plant's combined production and applies plant-level active-power curtailment through the Data Manager instead of addressing each inverter individually.

### Supported devices

-   **SMA Data Manager M** (EDMM-10)
-   **SMA Data Manager M Lite** (EDMM-10.A)
-   **SMA Data Manager L** (EDML-10)

### EMS functionality

-   Monitoring of aggregated PV production across all connected inverters
-   Plant-level active-power curtailment where supported (negative-price capping, fixed injection limit, zero injection)
-   Integration of PV production into broader energy-management strategies

### Configuration

1.  Connect your computer to the same LAN as the SMA Data Manager and open its IP address in a browser.
2.  Log in as **Installer**.
3.  Enable the **Modbus TCP server** (port 502) so the EMS can read the plant and send setpoints.
4.  Make sure Modbus and grid-management mode are enabled on the aggregated inverters as well, otherwise curtailment cannot take effect.

> **Warning**
>
> Enter the plant's installed PV capacity when adding the device. The Data Manager applies the EMS limit as a percentage of that capacity, so an incorrect value leads to incorrect curtailment.
