# Schneider EVlink Pro AC

Our EMS supports the **Schneider EVlink Pro AC** charging station over **Modbus TCP**, so charging power is steered along with the rest of the site instead of running on its own.

The integration communicates over **Modbus TCP** (default port `502`, default unit id `1`).

### EMS functionality

-   **Charging power control**: the charging current is steered per connector, so charging follows the available power at the grid connection instead of a fixed maximum.
-   **Load balancing**: the charger takes part in the site load management. Charging is curtailed first when a (sub-)meter approaches its limit, before controllable loads are shed.
-   **Session monitoring**: charging state, delivered power and energy are read back and shown on the device page and in the EV charging dashboard.
-   **Connector faults**: a faulty charging connector reported by the station is raised as an incident, so a charge point that refuses to charge does not go unnoticed.

## Setup

1. **Wiring and startup**
   
   Complete the electrical installation and switch on the charging station. Verify that the residual current device and the circuit breaker protecting the charge point are active.
2. **Network**
   
   Connect the charger to the same network as the Voltmasters controller and give it a fixed IP address in that subnet. Make sure port `502` is reachable between the controller and the charger.
3. **Enable Modbus TCP**
   
   In the configuration interface of the charging station, enable **Modbus TCP** and note the unit id and port. Our EMS uses unit id `1` and port `502` by default.
   
   > **Note**
   >
   > Restart the charging station after changing the network or Modbus settings, so the new configuration takes effect.
4. **Add the device in Voltmasters**
   
   Add a new device of type **EV charger**, brand **Schneider**, model **EVlink Pro AC**, and fill in the IP address, port and unit id of the charger.
   
   Load balancing is set per connector for this model.
5. **Verify**
   
   Start a charging session and check on the device page that the charging state and the delivered power come in, and that the charger follows a lowered power limit.
